Liverpool Back on Track with Newcastle Win

Liverpool and Newcastle featured in the highest profile of the UK football results last night (13 April 2015). Brendan Rodgers managed to halt the slide of his Liverpool team by pushing them on to beat Newcastle 2-0 at Anfield.

Raheem Sterling courted controversy after recent pictures revealed the 20-year-old attacker had been smoking on a shisha pipe. But he took a step toward atoning for his mistake by opening the scoring for Liverpool in the 9th minute.

Liverpool controlled 62% of possession yet somehow allowed Newcastle to create 10 total attempts. Meanwhile, Liverpool could only create 14 total attempts despite dominating possession. The result was then put beyond doubt when Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen scored a second goal in the 70th minute.

That win has brought Liverpool within four points of Man City in fourth, giving the Reds a glimpse of hope at Champions League qualification.

Redcar Horse Racing Results – 13 April 2015

The going was good to firm in the UK horse racing results yesterday at Redcar Racecourse (13 April). Astley Hall at 5/1 was the first winner of the day in the 14:20 Maiden Stakes, claiming glory ahead of Risk Adjusted (13/2) and Majestic Bond (5/2F).

Haajes stepped up as the next winner at 9/2 in the 14:50 Selling Stakes, which was followed by a win for Brotherly Company at 4/7 as favourite in the 15:20 Median Auction Stakes.

Taghreeb then went on to win at 7/2 as joint favourite in the 15:50 Handicap. Another favourite won when Second Wave came first at 6/5 in the 16:20 Handicap.

Vanishing emerged as the victor at 6/4 in the 16:50 Fillies Handicap, while Saltarello won as joint favourite at 7/2 in the 17:20 Median Auction Maiden Stakes. Fellow joint favourite Harlestone Hopes only managed to finish third, behind Pushingmypatience at 9/2.

Cheltenham Horse Racing Tips – 15 April 2015

Wednesday 15 April marks the final farewell of legendary jockey AP McCoy to Cheltenham, where he has enjoyed fantastic successes over the years. Today’s racing tips from Sky Sports are for this momentous occasion. The going had been forecast as good for this turf course.

McCoy will only be featuring in one race of this two-day event. Only five horses will be racing in the 14:05 Novices Hurdle, so McCoy will have a small field to fight through while riding the 5/2 Boru’s Brook.

A busier field of 11 runners will be competing in the 14:40 Cheltenham Club Handicap Chase. Lots of successful jockeys will be competing, so the odds are more generous for this race.

Financial Climate has been identified as favourite at 9/2, but Loose Chips could be more appealing at 13/2 – that is because Noel Fehily is a former winner of the Championship Hurdle.
