Newmarket Speed Ratings – 16 April 2015

Newmarket is expecting partly cloudy weather tomorrow (16 April), when the going will be good. Fans should be eager for this meeting because it will feature eight races instead of just seven. And from the day’s races, it is the 15:30 Abernant Stakes that appears to be fasted, at least according to the latest horse racing speed ratings free from the Racing Post.

A total of 12 runners have declared for the 15:30. Ahead of the race, it is Chookie Royale that has the top speed rating of 115. The Keith Dalgleish-trained horse is seven years old and will be ridden by Tom Eaves.

The race will feature a few other horses with speed ratings of above 100. Most notably, Jack Dexter and Rivellino have been rated equal on 109. Then, you have Music Master just behind them on 108, while American Hope is 106 and Astaire is 103.

Madrid Derby Ends in Champions League Draw

The first evening of Champions League quarter-final fixture was not rich with goals. From the football results from yesterday (14 April 2015), the outcomes were tense because teams did not want to get off to a bad start in the first leg.

Atlético Madrid vs. Real Madrid drew the attention of most neutral fans, but the outcome was a taught 0-0 game. Real Madrid held 61% of possession and created 17 total shots, but Atleti goalkeeper Jan Oblak kept out all eight of the shots that were on target.

Incredibly, Real Madrid have not scored in their last four games played at the Vicente Calderón Stadium. Elsewhere, there was at least one goal for fans to enjoy, albeit a penalty.

Juventus vs. Monaco was the only other Champions League game yesterday. The Ligue 1 club proved they were no pushovers when playing the Italian champions, but lost 1-0 to an Arturo Vidal penalty after 56 minutes.

Exeter Horse Racing Winners – 14 April 2015

The sun was shining bright on Exeter Racecourse yesterday (14 April). That ensured that the going was good to firm for the seven UK horse racing results. First off, the crowd will have been stunned by the heroic victory of 25/1 long-shot Ocean Venture over 4/9 favourite She’s Da One in the 14:00 Novices Hurdle.

That unexpected outcome was followed up with a win for 5/6 favourite Sandynow in the 14:30 Handicap Hurdle. Another horse with relatively short odds triumphed when Thomas Wild took the 15:00 Handicap Chase ahead of 10/3 favourite Adrenalin Flight.

Vodka ‘n Tonic restored order for the favourites with a win at 11/8 in the 15:35 Handicap Hurdle, which was followed by a 5/4 win for favourite Tom Neary in the 16:10 Handicap Chase.

Blinding Lights then won the 16:40 Novices Hunters Chase at astonishingly long odds of 50/1. A favourite completed the wins when Sadler’s Gold won at 8/15 in the 17:10 Maiden Hurdle.
