Royal Ascot: Queen Anne Stakes – 16 June 2015

Another Royal Ascot will begin with the prestigious Queen Anne Stakes, where a £375,000 prize fund has been allocated. This showcase festival will feature a number of special races over the next five days, but can compete with the 14:30 Queen Anne Stakes.

Partly cloudy weather is expected for Tuesday (16 June), meaning that the going is likely to be good (good to firm). The stable conditions are going to help the clear favourites for this race.

Currently, Sky Sports has Solow at 11/8 in its latest horse racing naps of the day. The five-year-old has been in scintillating form, winning six races from its last seven.

A little further behind is 2/1 prospect Able Friend, a six-year-old that has also won six races from its last seven. Night Of Thunder comes next at 9/2, but simply cannot match the form of Solow and Able Friend in winning two from seven.

Royal Ascot Speed Ratings – 16 June 2015

Royal Ascot is one of the most hotly anticipated festivals in the UK horse racing calendar. Starting this Tuesday (16 June), the festival will run for five days and give away millions in prize money.

And following the 14:30 Queen Anne Stakes, there is an altogether more thrilling race in the 15:40 King’s Stand Stakes. A field of 19 horses aged three or older will compete with one another. Below are the latest daily speed figures from the Racing Post.

Mecca’s Angel is rated quickest with 124, giving the four-year-old an edge in racing for the first-prize share of the £375,000 prize fund. The Michael Dods-trained horse has won four from six.

Goldream and Lancelot Du Lac both come next with on 117, but neither is as strong as Mecca’s Angel on form. Meanwhile, Take Cover last won six races ago and has a rating of 116.

Euro 2016 Qualifying and Copa America 2015 Roundup

A packed weekend of international football delivered some intriguing outcomes in the football results from yesterday (Sunday 14 June 2015). Key results will be covered from Euro 2016 Qualifying and the Copa America 2015.

Two goals from Jack Wilshere and one from Wayne Rooney spared England’s blushes in a 3-2 away victory over Slovenia. Elsewhere, Spain only managed to scrape a narrow 1-0 victory in Belarus.

Brazil succeeded in beginning their Copa America campaign with three points, but not in appeasing their fans, who will demand better performances than a laboured 2-1 win over Peru. A late stoppage time goal from Douglas Costa was needed to secure the win.

Argentina were not quite so fortunate. Despite starting with a front line comprised of Leo Messi, Sergio Agüero, and Ángel Di María, the Argentines could do no better than a 2-2 draw with Paraguay. A 2-0 first-half lead was squandered as Paraguay were afforded two second-half goals.
