USA Win First Game of 2015 Gold Cup

Only a few days after the conclusion of the 2015 Copa American and already we have another international tournament to savour. This time, however, the focus is on countries from around North and Central America competing in the Gold Cup.

The USA have entered this tournament full of promise, buoyed by a 2-1 friendly win over Germany and a World Cup victory for their female counterparts. A lot of attention will be on the Americans as they seek to win a trophy on home soil.

Early on Wednesday morning (UK time), the Americans lined up for a 2-1 victory against Honduras in the football results from yesterday.

Former Fulham forward Clint Dempsey opened the scoring after 26 minutes, giving the US a 1-0 lead before doubling it after 64 minutes. However, Honduras ensured that the Americans endured a tense finish after bringing the score back to 2-1 on 70 minutes, but the USA managed to hold out.

Newmarket July Festival 2015: Day Two – 10 July 2015

Now that we’re into the second day of the Newmarket July Festival 2015, it is time to check in with the Racing Post for its latest UK horse racing speed ratings. Easily the race of greatest interest to fans will be with the 15:15 QIPCO Falmouth Stakes and the £200,000 guaranteed prize fund.

Friday appears as it if it will be Sunny, while the going is good to firm after the turf was watered. The fillies and mares competing will likely appreciate that the going was not firm and that the turf will be more forgiving.

Lucida is 11/4 favourite and has the top speed rating of 115, but the three-year-old has not exactly been spectacular in winning two races from four in its career.

Bawina has been rated slightly slower at 107, yet has earned five wins from seven career races. The four-year-old is also more lucrative at 7/1.
