Out of the UK football results last night (9 March), Arsenal solidified their status as favourites to retain the FA Cup after dumping Man Utd out of the competition.
After playing what was a relatively even first half, the score was 1-1 between the two sides. Following halftime, though, both managers made a couple of changes, but only Arsenal benefited from theirs.
Man Utd certainly retained the Lion’s share of possession, but they could not quite generate the chances to justify their approach. Meanwhile, Arsenal continued to exert pressure when they had the ball. Eventually, their hard work paid off, with Danny Welbeck scoring after a woeful Antonio Valencia back-pass.
Following the game, it was revealed in the semi-final draw that Arsenal would playing Reading or Bradford City. Either team would be beatable for Arsenal, letting the Gunners reach their second FA Cup final in consecutive seasons.
