Arsenal Win in Premier League Asia Trophy

Preseason football is intensifying by the day, with clubs eager to heighten their preparations in time for the new season. One of the principal friendly tournaments of the summer is the Premier League Asia Trophy, which will help clubs develop fitness while enhancing the Premier League brand.

In the yesterday match results on Wednesday (15 July), Arsenal eased past the Singapore Select XI to notch up a comfortable 4-0 victory. And it was a relative unknown in Cuba Akpom who led them to victory. The 19-year-old managed to score a hat-trick, while Jack Wilshere scored from the spot.

Everton and Stoke City played out a drab 0-0 draw in the other game, and it was the Toffees that eventually won 5-4 on penalties. Sunday will now see Arsenal face off against Everton to decide the winner of the Premier League Asia Trophy, but the Gunners are definitely favourites.
