Day one of the Cheltenham Festival (11 March) was brimming with interesting news for UK horse racing results and payouts. The weather conditions were sunny and the going was generally good to soft.
Willie Mullins was the big winner on day one, and the legendary Irish trainer’s first win came in the Supreme Novices Hurdle. Ruby Walsh rode clear favourite Douvan to victory with odds of 2/1.
Mullins’ second win came in the Arkle Challenge Trophy, which was won again by Ruby Walsh, but this time the Irish jockey was riding favourite Un De Sceaux at odds of 4/6.
After those two races, Mullins and Walsh completed a trio of victories when they clinched the Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy at 15:20. This time, favourite Faugheen won the race with odds of 4/5. Punters who packaged all three together in an accumulator will have enjoyed a boosted payout.
