Sunday 22 March was relatively quiet for UK horse racing results, but thankfully there was a full schedule of action across the Irish Sea at Downpatrick Racecourse, where the going was yielding (good in places).
The first notable race of the day was the 14:40 Rated Hurdle, in which eight runners participated. But for all of the efforts of those horses, it was the 11/10 favourite Knight’s Parade that won. The horse was ridden by Davy Condon and trained by Gordon Elliott. The total prize pool was approximately £8,000.
Moving to the standout race of the day, which was the 15:45 Handicap Chase, this was taken by outsider Riverside City at 9/1. The successful duo of Davy Condon and Gordon Elliott managed to secure yet another impressive victory, but this time in a race with an £11,000 prize pool. Man With Van (10/1) came second and Jupitor (7/1) finished third.
