There was no shortage of intriguing outcomes in the football results from yesterday in the Europa League. Now into a new knockout round of the competition, some teams were able to get off to a decent start in the first-leg games on Thursday 12 March.
Starting with Everton vs. Dynamo Kiev, the English side fell behind in the 14th minute after Gusev opened the scoring. Fortunately for the Toffees, Steven Naismith levelled ahead of halftime in the 39th minute. Romelu Lukaku later won the game for the Everton in the 82nd minute.
The biggest eye-opener, however, was the Wolfsburg vs. Inter match. After falling behind to a fifth-minute goal from Inter. Wolfsburg never looked back in defeating the Italians 3-1.
Fiorentina vs. Roma was a tense affair, with the former leading the latter after a 17th minute goal. However, Roma manager to level the game in the 77th minute, setting up a thrilling second leg meeting.
