St Patrick’s Day 2015 was quite an affair for UK horse racing results and payouts at Exeter Racecourse. Owners eagerly gathered along with their horses, trainers, and jockeys in hope of winning a share of the £88,000 prize pool. Exeter Racecourse has turf, and on Tuesday the going was either good to soft or soft in places.
A number of highly favoured horses won throughout the afternoon, but there were two races in particular that defied convention. Coming up first in the 14:45 race was the 10/1 long-shot Flying Light. Hailing from Ireland, this W Hutchinson-ridden horse finished ahead of Lamblord (14/1) and Legion d’Honneur (14/1).
After a series of races in which the clear favourites won, it was refreshing to see Irish horse Black Narcissus win with outsider odds of 25/1. This was an impressive victory for trainer Mrs A Dunn, as Black Narcissus was pitted against a crowd of 11 other runners.
