After starting the game as heavy favourites, Liverpool disappointed their home fans by struggling to overcome a dogged Blackburn Rovers side. Rovers have already upset two Premier League sides in this season’s FA Cup, but it was surprising that Liverpool had to settle for a 0-0 draw and a quarter-final replay.
Elsewhere, Liverpool and Blackburn weren’t the only teams to endure a 0-0 stalemate in the football results from yesterday. By the end of 90 minutes, Bradford City and Reading had played out a draw. But that won’t have surprised many, as Bradford’s Valley Parade pitch was in extremely poor condition.
Surprisingly, the excitement of the weekend was reserved for Aston Villa. Since appointing Tim Sherwood as their new manager, the Villain’s have found a pulse. Sherwood is already winning over the fans after propelling Villa to the semi finals of the FA Cup by defeating Midland rivals West Brom.
