The Premier League delivered yet another dramatic twist in the race for Champions League qualification. Manchester rivals United and City locked horns in a pivotal encounter from yesterday’s matches on Sunday 12 April.
Man City came storming into the game after losing 2-1 to Crystal Palace in their last Premier League outing. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have been low on confidence of late, so a win was sorely needed to help secure the manager’s future.
City took the lead in the eight minute after a well-worked goal from David Silva and Sergio Agüero. However, the Citizens then gave up four straight goals to their red rivals, coming from Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata, and Chris Smalling.
When Agüero pulled the score back to 4-2 in the 88th minute, City looked completely disinterested. Holding on to fourth place appears like it could be a challenge for Man City.
