A P McCoy had claimed that he would retire immediately if he won Saturday’s Grand National. Well, he is going to be around for a little while longer after finishing fifth in the race. And McCoy was not the only high profile jockey to struggle.
Nina Carberry had been mooted as the race’s first ever female winner, but First Lieutenant (14/1) could do no better than 16th. Another highly touted prospect in Sam Twiston-Davies finished just behind in 17th on Rocky Creek (8/1).
The Ruby Walsh-ridden Ballycasey (25/1) did not finish, and the same can be said for Balthazar King (17/2) and The Druids Nephew 10/1). Many punters were left frustrated by the performances of those horses.
Many Clouds was not highly favoured by any means, yet managed to win at 25/1 in these UK horse racing results and payouts. Jockey Oliver Sherwood won his second Grand National atop the eight-year-old Irish horse.
