Today is time for another informative slate of UK horse racing speed ratings from the Racing Post. Thursday 14 May will see seven races hosted during the early evening at Newmarket Racecourse. After checking out the speed ratings, it would appear that there are a couple of intriguing prospects.
Starting with the second race, which is the 17:50 Handicap, The Ducking Stool has the second highest rating with 80. Positioned in number five, this eight-year-old has placed in four of his last six races. Form does not appear to be strong among many of the other hoses in this field of 10.
Moving on to the 18:55 Handicap, the highly favoured Urban Castle has won twice and placed twice in four of its last six races. The four-year-old has a modest speed rating of 66, which is lower than the 91 accredited to Excellent Puck. However, Urban Castle has exhibited better form.
