Royal Ascot 2015 Results: Day One – 16 June 2015

Cloudy weather greeted the hundreds of thousands of spectators on the first day of Royal Ascot 2015. And after the going started as good, the surface became quicker after the initial race, changing to good to firm.

First up in the UK horse racing results and payouts is the 14:30 Queen Anne Stakes, a race that was won by 11/8 favourite Solow. Buratino stepped up next to win the 15:05 Coventry Stakes at 6/1.

Goldream proved to be an extremely lucrative outsider in winning the 15:40 Kind’s Stand Stakes at 20/1, beating out an extreme long-shot in the form of 50/1 prospect Medicean Man.

Gleneagles then restored order by winning as 8/15 favourite in the 16:20 St James’s Palace Stakes. But Clondaw Warrior was a more lucrative favourite in winning the 17:00 Ascot Stakes at 5/1. Washington DC also won at 5/1 in claiming the 17:35 Windsor Castle Stakes.
