A lot of slot games these days tend to be a tad too overcomplicated as they try to cram as many features and bonuses in as possible, sure it might be fun but sometimes even the simplest of games can be fun. That’s why the Starburst slot game has become so successful in recent months, in fact it’s doing so well that we wrote a Starburst slot review to show how great it is.
Starburst isn’t particularly difficult when it comes to playing it as the controls are all straightforward and easy to get to grips with. There are five reels and ten pay lines to play across, players can alter the number of paylines they wish to use by using the left and right buttons next to the ‘Lines’ control. The bet level can also be changed using the left and right buttons next to the ‘Level’ option, you can also change the relative coin size in the same way. Altering this, the bet level and the number of pay lines you’re playing across gives a betting range of between 0.01 pence and £100. You have the choice of altering these amounts manually or setting it all automatically to the maximum levels by using the ‘Max Bet’ button. If turning the reels manually isn’t your style then you can use the ‘Auto Play’ button to set the reels to turn for a set number of turns automatically. When you want to start the reels spinning just hit the large central circular spin button.
Tips and Strategy
A few good tips for playing Starburst is to set the coin size as high as possible using the coin size and bet level controls or if you prefer just play an amount you feel comfortable with. But when you start winning larger amounts start ramping up that stake until you go two or more rounds without a win at which point you just cash out. If you start to lose too often just remember the house always wins, so don’t try to win back any losses just enjoy any wins and call it a day.
Starburst has a rather minimalist approach to design but it’s simple and incredibly appealing as it requires no extensive thought or planning to play. The control buttons are all large and easy to navigate around so you don’t need to hunt around for them for too long. Starbursts has a superb sci-fi esque style that uses a dark nebulous cloud floating in the depths of space behind the reels to really nail that science fiction tone. The various symbols in the game are all beautifully crafted jewels and it seems oddly poetic as you could say that the stars in the night sky are jewels themselves set against the infinite blackness.
Although there aren’t any bonuses to this game what it does have is expanding Wilds. These interesting symbols are represented by the rainbow stars, landing these in a winning combination will cause an entire reel to lock down and become Wild. Once the reel becomes Wild you’ll get a free spin that could result in more Wild combinations if you’re lucky as they can be chained together. Should you manage to turn all five reels into expanding Wilds you could win the massive jackpot of 50,000 coins.
