Yesterday’s matches in the Copa America concluded the group stages of this year’s tournament. Starting with Friday, however, Peru clinched second in Group A with a 1-0 win over Venezuela.
Saturday then saw Chile destroy Bolivia 5-0 to win Group B, with Paraguay drawing 1-1 against Uruguay to finish second. Argentina then joined those two in the next round after a 1-0 win against Jamaica, winning Group B in the process.
Colombia then missed out to Peru by finishing third in Group C following a 0-0 draw between the two sides on Sunday. Brazil managed to win 2-1 despite playing without suspended captain Neymar, finishing as winners of Group C.
The quarterfinals’ fixtures are yet to be determined until a playoff draw is made with the three third-placed finishers, which include Ecuador, Uruguay, and Colombia. Although proving to be disappointments, Uruguay and Colombia could still progress.
