Southwell Speed Figures – 25 March 2015


Southwell Racecourse has a couple of eagerly anticipated races scheduled for Wednesday 25 March. Following the initial 14:20 Maiden Stakes, which only has a single horse with an official rating, the 14:50 Handicap contains better known commodities. The £8,000 prize pool has attracted nine runners aged at least nine years.

From the pack of runners, Tartan Trip leads in the daily speed figures with a rating of 82, according to the Racing Post. Just behind the speed leader is Blazeofenchatment with 81. Other horses to watch out for are Vivat Rex (77) and Clockmaker (76).

Immediately after the 14:50 is the 15:20 Handicap featuring nine Class 2 runners competing a share of a £20,000 prize pool. Quite simply, this is the premier race of the day. And the top speed ratings are as follows: Loyalty at 102, Two Moons at 101, Ifwecan at 100, and Noble Citizen at 100.

Premier League Weekend Roundup – 21-22 March 2015


Another weekend in the Premier League gave us yet another installment of thrilling action. For fans on Sunday, there was a lot to think about in regard to the yesterday match results.

Man City fans will have been delighted by their ability to get back on track with 3-0 win over West Brom, helping them get over their European defeat to Barcelona. Elsewhere, Arsenal continued to exert pressure on Man City by registering a 2-1 victory away at Newcastle.

The most thrilling of the Saturday results was easily the 4-3 home win of Tottenham over Leicester City. The league’s bottom-placed side defied expectations in demanding a hat trick from Spurs youngster Harry Kane.

Moving on to Sunday, the game of focus is Hull-Chelsea. After scoring two early goals, it looked like Chelsea were out of sight, but not before Hull levelled at 2-2. Chelsea only managed to find a winning foal in the 77th minute.

Outsiders Dominate Wolverhampton Races – 23 March 2015


Monday 23 March saw a number of outsiders defy the odds to win races at Wolverhampton Racecourse, only one favourite winning one of eight races, and that was Sammy’s Warrior in the 17:10 Maiden Auction Stakes at 11/10.

Although the weather was overcast, the going was standard. And in the first race of the day, Waterloo Dock at 14/1 defied the highly favoured 9/4 Sleet to win the first of these UK horse racing results yesterday.

Another worthy winner for odds was Al Muheer at 13/2 in the 15:40 Selling Stakes. Patrick Vaughan managed to ride Al Muheer to victory over evens favourite Manipulation in second.

Last of all, Versus Delicia gave us yet another thrilling outsider victory at 14/1 in the 17:40 Fillies Handicap. Jockey Luke Morris will be delighted by his winning ride over favourite horse Fab Lolly at 6/4. Meanwhile, Poetic Choice aptly rounded out the finishers at 10/1 for an each-way payout.
