Draw Ends Liverpool’s Champions League Dream

A 2-1 win for Man Utd on Saturday left Liverpool trailing their Champions League rivals by seven points. Liverpool entered their Saturday encounter against Chelsea knowing that only a win would do. However, they are unable to win away against the new Premier League champions.

Chelsea captain John Terry pretty much immediately put Liverpool under pressure by scoring an opening goal after only five minutes. Fortunately for the Anfield side, they were able to pull a goal back from their own club captain, Steven Gerrard, who headed in an equaliser.

Liverpool held 52% of possession for the game, with Chelsea preferring to play on the counter. Although they created 15 attempts on goal, Liverpool could only manage four on target.

In the other football results from yesterday (Sunday 10 May), Man City and the red hot Sergio Agüero, who scored a hat-trick, beat QPR 6-0 at the Etihad.
