Sevilla Dash Fiorentina Hopes in Europa League

Thursday evening delivered a landslide victory for Sevilla in the football results from yesterday. Playing at home in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final encounter with Roma, Sevilla secured a 3-0 advantage to carry forward into the second leg next week.

As reigning holders of the Europa League, it was always going to be immensely difficult for Fiorentina to play Sevilla. And the match began badly after Aleix Vidal scored after only 17 minutes. However, Fiorentina were able to keep the score at 1-0 until half-time.

Vidal would prove to be a nightmare for Fiorentina to cope with, scoring again after 52 minutes. Kévin Gameiro then increased Sevilla’s aggregate lead by scoring after 75 minutes.

In the other semi-final first leg, Napoli drew 1-1 with Dnipro. Allowing an away goal will make the second leg even tougher for Rafa Benítez and his team.
