Newmarket Horse Racing Naps – 18 July 2015

Saturday is loaded with prize money, and few courses are on the same level as Newmarket. Incredibly, the afternoon starts with a £45,000 race, which does not happen often in the season. For your horse racing naps of the day, we look to Sky Sports for hints about what is going to happen at Newmarket.

Ahead of the race, it is expected that the going will be good to firm (good in places) for the 13:40 Betway Handicap. Ten runners of at least three or older have entered. On the basis of form, Secret Art is a worthy favourite at 9/2 after winning or placing in its last three races.

Immediately after is the 14:15 Newsells Park Stud Stakes, open to fillies of three or older. Although a little further back at 5/2, Desert Snow has won its last two races and is in better form than 11/4 favourite Arabian Comet.

Chepstow Horse Racing Results – 16 July 2015

Chepstow Racecourse hosted a staggering eight races on Thursday afternoon and delivered a number of exciting conclusions. Without delay, let’s launch into the UK horse racing results yesterday.

Hit The Lights rewarded its backers with a victory as a 5/2 favourite winner in the 14:00 Handicap. Dubai’s Secret then kept momentum going with a 7/2 victory in the 14:30 Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Cool Bahamian then fell short as 3/1 favourite in the 15:00 Handicap, missing out to 8/1 winner Midnight Rider. Zaria managed a similar feat as 5/1 winner, finishing ahead of 11/4 favourite Knight Of The Air (11/4) in the 15:35 Handicap.

Dandys Perier won next at 12/1 in the 16:05 Handicap, followed by a 9/2 victory for Pick A Little in the 16:40 Handicap. Distant High then won at 7/2 in the 17:10 Handicap before Ring Eye finished the afternoon as 6/1 winner in the 17:40 Apprentice Handicap.

Mexico Light Up 2015 Gold Cup in 4-4 Draw

Many will be surprised by the Gold Cup score-lines in the football results from yesterday (16 July 2015). Mexico lined up against Trinidad & Tobago to decide the winner of group C and determine who gets to advance to the knockout stages in the strongest position. Incredibly, the game finished as a scintillating 4-4 draw.

Trinidad & Tobago came into the game with a two-point advantage, so a draw would be enough for them. And all appeared to be lost for Trinidad & Tobago after goals from Paul Aguilar and Carlos Vela gave Mexico a two-goal advantage on 51 minutes.

To their credit, however, Trinidad & Tobago fought back quickly by scoring two goals in two minutes (55 and 57). Next, they added a third to take a 3-2 advantage, but Mexico then tied the game after 88 minutes. A goal from either side on 90 minutes then brought the game to a thrilling conclusion.

Newbury Racecourse Speed Ratings – 17 July 2015

You can stop scouring the schedule. Newbury Racecourse is the prime destination for Friday afternoon. Seven races are on the card, and thousands of pounds worth of prize money will have been awarded by the time they conclude. At present, the going is good (good to firm in places).

After checking out the latest daily speed figures from the Racing Post, it would appear that Opal Tiara could be set to deliver a quick ride in the 15:40 Rose Bowl Stakes. The two-year-old is rated quickest at 101 and is also fancied as 7/4 under the experienced guidance of jockey Andrea Atzeni.

Elsewhere in the field of two-year-olds, Madrinho could be a contender with its 94 rating. Tasleet then comes at 89, followed by the 88-rated Plagiarism. But this will be a tough race to call because each of the horses has already won its first career race.

Catterick Racecourse Results – 15 July 2015

Catterick race-goers were treated to a fine and dry day in the UK horse racing results yesterday. Wednesday afternoon delivered a fair blend of outcomes, with favourites and outsiders managing to win races. Before starting our roundup, it should be noted that the going was good.

Lady Clair launched into proceedings with a 9/2 victory in the 14:00 Maiden Fillies Stakes, leaving behind 9/4 favourite Baby Ballerina in third. Grey Destiny managed to win next, claiming the 14:30 Selling Stakes as 5/4 favourite.

Perfect Peak rose as the next winner at 15/2 in the 15:00 Handicap, which was followed by a win for 11/4 favourite Dominada in the 15:30 Handicap. Signore Piccolo then delivered considerable value as 8/1 winner of the 16:00 Handicap.

Lets Twist won at 3/1 to snatch victory ahead of 15/8 favourite Takafol in the 16:30 Median Auction Maiden Stakes. And Dhaula Dhar managed a similar trick at 7/1 by defeating 3/1 favourite Ferngrove in the 17:00 Handicap.

Arsenal Win in Premier League Asia Trophy

Preseason football is intensifying by the day, with clubs eager to heighten their preparations in time for the new season. One of the principal friendly tournaments of the summer is the Premier League Asia Trophy, which will help clubs develop fitness while enhancing the Premier League brand.

In the yesterday match results on Wednesday (15 July), Arsenal eased past the Singapore Select XI to notch up a comfortable 4-0 victory. And it was a relative unknown in Cuba Akpom who led them to victory. The 19-year-old managed to score a hat-trick, while Jack Wilshere scored from the spot.

Everton and Stoke City played out a drab 0-0 draw in the other game, and it was the Toffees that eventually won 5-4 on penalties. Sunday will now see Arsenal face off against Everton to decide the winner of the Premier League Asia Trophy, but the Gunners are definitely favourites.

Bath Racecourse Results – 14 July 2015

Today’s recap of UK horse racing results comes from Bath Racecourse. Weather-wise, the sky was overcast yet did not rain until later on. Consequently, the going remained firm (good to firm in places) on Tuesday afternoon.

The first of the six races was the 14:00 Handicap, which was won by 12/1 outsider Powerful Dream at the expense of 11/8 favourite Sing Something. Another favourite missed out when 2/1 prospect Lead A Merry Dance lost to 10/1 Dangerous Age in the 14:35 Fillies Handicap.

Rathaath then won at 6/1 to hold off 7/2 joint-favourite Snap Shots in the 15:10 Handicap. Ironically, Agerzam won at 10/1 in the 15:45 Handicap, just ahead of 11/4 favourite Edged Out.

Yet another favourite was disappointed when 11/8 Cocker lost to Doctor Kehoe at 11/4 in the 16:20 Handicap. Favourites were entirely held out when Senor George won at 11/4 in the 16:55 Handicap in front of Santayana as 6/4 favourite.

Epsom Downs Horse Racing Naps – 16 July 2015

Two £10,000 races have been arranged as part of the wider schedule on the Epsom Downs this Thursday evening, which will help to draw a healthy crowd to take in the action. Horse racing naps for today come courtesy of Sky Sports.

The going is expected to be good (good to firm in places) for the 19:50 Ashtead Handicap, which will feature only six runners. Picking the outright winner is the focus here, and Marmot is a fine prospect at 15/8, having won two of its last four races.

Coming straight after is the 20:20 Arthur Budgett Memorial Handicap, but there will be a larger field of eight runners for this race. At present, Sky Sports has Denzille Lane pegged as favourite at 3/1. That is due to the three-year-old’s incredible form of late, winning twice and coming second in its last three races.

USA to Knockout Stages of 2015 Gold Cup

Groups A and B have now been decided in the 2015 Gold Cup after the football results from yesterday. Late on Tuesday night, Jamaica secured a marginal 1-0 victory over El Salvador to earn three points and confirm top spot in group B ahead of Costa Rica.

Early on Wednesday morning (UK time), Haiti met Honduras and managed to beat them 1-0. Those three points brought Haiti up to four points, placing them level with the USA. However, they were two goals behind the USA on goal difference.

The USA took the field in their matchup against Panama knowing that they could progress as group winners even if they lost 2-0. And perhaps that knowledge compromised the intensity of their performance, because the Americans struggled.

They went behind to a Panama goal on 34 minutes and were unable to level the game until 55 minutes, when Michael Bradley brought them level.

Windsor Horse Racing Results – 13 July 2015

Royal Windsor Racecourse hosted seven races in the UK horse racing results yesterday evening. Race-goers had lots of action to savour, but there was a slight dampener when the overcast sky burst with rain during races four and five. Consequently, the going was good to soft (good in places).

Emerging as the first victor of the day was Reginald Claude at 8/1 in the 18:00 Apprentice Handicap. Stepping up next was 1/5 favourite Hillgrove Angel in the 18:30 Selling Stakes. Alizoom was the next favourite to win, claiming the 19:00 Maiden Stakes at 6/4.

Essenaitch broke up the brief spell of dominance from the favourites by winning at 11/1 in the 19:30 Maiden Stakes, but Edge of Heaven then won as 8/11 favourite in the 20:00 Fillies Handicap.

Winner of the 20:30 Handicap was 9/4 Keep in Line, with Choral Festival being the final victor at 11/4 in the 21:00 Handicap.
