Close to £80,000 worth of prize money was awarded in Carlisle for the UK horse racing results yesterday. The going was largely good (good to firm in places), which seemed to make life difficult for the favourites. In just a moment, you will see how Wednesday was an afternoon for the underdogs at Carlisle Racecourse.
Moondyne Joe became the first winner by clinching the 14:00 Maiden Auction Stakes. Hawatif would then be the first – and only – favourite to secure a victory by winning the 14:30 Maiden Stakes at 7/4.
Boasting an eye-catching name, Go Dan Go did not disappoint in the 15:00 Handicap, managing to win at 13/2. Ifwecan then won as a relative long-shot with odds of 17/2 in the 15:35 Handicap.
Excilly would go on to win the 16:10 Stakes at 5/1, followed by a 16/1 victory for Kinema in the 16:45 Handicap. The overcast afternoon finished with a win for 9/2 Invoke in the 17:15 Fillies Handicap.
