Groups A and B have now been decided in the 2015 Gold Cup after the football results from yesterday. Late on Tuesday night, Jamaica secured a marginal 1-0 victory over El Salvador to earn three points and confirm top spot in group B ahead of Costa Rica.
Early on Wednesday morning (UK time), Haiti met Honduras and managed to beat them 1-0. Those three points brought Haiti up to four points, placing them level with the USA. However, they were two goals behind the USA on goal difference.
The USA took the field in their matchup against Panama knowing that they could progress as group winners even if they lost 2-0. And perhaps that knowledge compromised the intensity of their performance, because the Americans struggled.
They went behind to a Panama goal on 34 minutes and were unable to level the game until 55 minutes, when Michael Bradley brought them level.
